Tiny, timeless, and totally V V
Made from scraps and snippets of V V Chapeaux creations -think stray feathers, crin, and leftover lace - these peg dollies are a playful nod to Victorian craft and couture flair. Crafted by one of our seamtresses, the tireless and brilliant Caroline, what might have been left on the workbench - spiky feathers, satin ribbon ends, vintage lace, even shiny acetate from empty ribbon rolls, is transformed into a tiny character full of V V charm.
Caroline’s Dollies step into a long tradition of miniature storytelling - echoing the Théâtre de la Mode, where fashion once found its stage not on runways, but in doll-sized couture.

Featuring soft swirls of crin, sparkling glass beads, and spiky stray feathers that once fluttered from a fabulous hat.
Eighty years on from the end of the Second World War, we’re tipping our hats to the legendary Théâtre de la Mode - a magical exhibition of fashion dolls launched in 1945 to revive French couture. Designers like Christian Dior, Balenciaga, and Schiaparelli dressed elegant miniature mannequins to keep the art of fashion alive while fabric was scarce. It was small-scale theatre with grand imagination - Paris was making a powerful celebration of craft, resilience, and reinvention.

Reminding you of a certain tweed headband in the shop? Using off cuts of fabric, this dolly embraces her inner Coco.
Born from the scraps of the V V Chapeaux atelier and made with love, each dolly is a miniature marvel - a celebration of sustainable design, handmade beauty, and the joy of turning the overlooked into the utterly unforgettable. Like the Théâtre de la Mode dolls before them, they are stitched with stories, style, and a whole lot of imagination.

A spare wax flower from Tahoe in our Ascot Collection, this dolly also wears our V V handpainted fabric scraps left over from one of Annabel's hat designs.
With their beaded bonnets, cheeky charm, and theatrical flair, Caroline's dollies embody the modern descendants of those postwar fashion figures. Each dolly carries a whisper of the hat it came from - a leftover loop here, a twist of tweed there - stitched into something new, delightful, and entirely V V.
