Piers Gibson

In his current exhibition, Piers Gibson works with V V Rouleaux grosgrain and silk ribbons, using traditional haberdashery within a contemporary mixed-media practice.

An important focus of these pieces is the impact of symmetry and contrast on perception. The materials used include recycled sari silks, millinery fabrics, haberdashery borders, brass, stainless and woven steel, extruded aluminium, beechwood and walnut each have different cultural associations.
