A ribbed, woven ribbon made from cotton, viscose or polyester. Strong and hard wearing, used for millinery. Made famous by Coco Chanel. Available in plains, printed dots or woven stripes.

A crisp ribbon with a slight sheen but not shiny. Made from rayon and mixed fibres. The original word is Persian meaning twisted woven. A starched like quality that holds its shape.

An intricate, pretty and complicated design within the ribbon. Introduced in 1801, a loom was made to weave the jacquard pattern. More costly to produce and used to be made in France though now computerised looms are more wide spread.
