How to create a relaxing living room

18/08/2017

Designing a relaxing living room is a piece of cake when you know how, and V V Rouleaux certainly does! Here's V V Rouleaux founder Annabel Lewis' top tips:

  1. Get to know where you feel comfortable. From knowing your style you can create an interior which you always feel at home with. Ask yourself questions like: Where do I feel calm and why? Which colours and textures make me tick?
  2. Have fun choosing a beautiful colour palette and comforting textures. Luxurious ribbons like organdy and silk, and exquisite trims like beaded fringe, lace, and feathers are welcoming additions to any home. Too much is never enough when it comes to creating a home and making it a personal gallery of all things inspiring.
  3. It's all in the personal details. Everything from furniture, cushions, throws, and blinds can be customised and updated. And as many of you will know, there's really nothing like the sense of fulfilment you get from making something yourself. A place feels so homely when you're surrounded by lovely things you've made.

To inspire you, Annabel's used ribbons and trimmings in subtle muted colours Pebble, Lily Of The Valley, and Nicotiana Green, as well as earthy, warm tones Leaf Green, Red Squirrel and Ceanothus to transform an un-loved living space into one with a distinctive homely character. A Cornflower Satin Ribbon-woven cushion is edged with Dark Damson Pear Drop Bead Fringe and the ottoman is covered with woven Organdy Ribbons. The lampshade is wrapped in Dark Damson Wired Ribbon.
